Detectives are investigating after a series of shootings took place in the city Saturday and early Sunday morning.
Officers from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit on patrol around 1:20 AM Saturday heard shots fired near Occidental Avenue South and South Yesler Way. Officers quickly learned that this was a continuation of a fight that had occurred earlier at a Pioneer Square club. Officers found two women who stated that they were involved in the shooting. The women said that a man they had been in a disturbance with pulled out a gun and fired at them. Both women pulled out their own firearms and returned fire. Both women have concealed carry permits and are legally allowed to have firearms. Officers seized the firearms pending further investigation. Officers were unable to locate the man who was last seen fleeing the area on foot.
Officers ended up seizing three firearms during this investigation. Officers released both women from the scene pending additional investigation.
A man walked into a cellphone store in the Othello neighborhood at 5:15 PM Saturday and asked to see a new iPhone. The employee showed the man the phone when the man attempted to walk out of the store. The employee attempted to stop the man who pulled out a gun and fired a single shot into a display before fleeing on foot northbound.
Offices searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Robbery detectives will conduct the follow-up investigation.
A man who stated he was driving along Rainier Avenue South in the Columbia City neighborhood at 9:45 PM Saturday when he was involved in a road rage incident.
The man said that he saw a man driving a Toyota Corolla aggressively in the area. He said that a passenger in the Corolla started yelling at him while they were at a stop light when he heard two gunshots.
Officers checked the victims vehicle but were unable to find any damage and were unable to locate a shooting scene.
Officers were dispatched to investigate a man who had been shot in the abdomen in the 9200 block of Southwest Barton Street at 1:50 AM Sunday. When police arrived they provided medical aid to the man until Seattle Fire Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center.
Officers spoke with witnesses who said they heard the shot come form the street or sidewalk and found the victim laying on the ground. Police searched the area and found a single shell casing but were unable to find anyone who could describe a possible suspect.
Officers responded to the 7800 block of 1st Avenue South for a report of a man shot. Officers quickly arrived and found the victim with a gunshot to the groin. The victim was able to tell officers that the suspect was last seen in a white Ford Fusion fleeing the area. Police searched the area but were unable to locate any additional witnesses or evidence.
Seattle Fire Department Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
