Police arrested seven suspects, recovered a gun, and seized drugs and cash during a narcotics operation in the West Precinct on Tuesday. Officers seized 25 grams of crack cocaine, 23 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 fentanyl pills, and more than $1,300 cash at narcotics trafficking locations in the Downtown core, Belltown and the Chinatown-International District.
Just after noon, officers witnessed two men at 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street selling narcotics. Police arrested the two suspects and seized 16 fentanyl pills and a small amount of crack cocaine from them.
Around 3:00 p.m., police near 3rd Avenue and Yesler Way witnessed a suspect selling narcotics. When officers attempted to detain the man, he ran, but officers caught and arrested him a couple blocks away after a brief foot pursuit. Officers searched the man and discovered he was carrying a pistol in his jacket pocket. The man did not have a concealed weapons permit, so officers seized the weapon, along with approximately 7 grams of crack cocaine he was carrying.
Later that afternoon, police at 2nd Avenue and Bell Street watched a man conduct a narcotics sale. Officers arrested the 27-year-old suspect and recovered 18 grams of crack cocaine, 1 grams of heroin, 11 grams of methamphetamine, 3 fentanyl pills and $486 in cash.
Shortly thereafter, officers at the same intersection in Belltown witnessed another narcotics transaction and arrested a second suspect. The 36-year-old man was carrying 12 grams of methamphetamine, 9 grams of crack cocaine, 40 fentanyl pills and $529 cash.
At about 8:00 p.m., officers attempted to contact a man at 3rd Avenue and Pike Street who was drinking in public. The man ran from officers, but was soon caught and arrested for obstruction several blocks away. A search of the suspect after arrest revealed he was carrying 58 fentanyl pills and approximately $80 in cash.
Police booked all the suspected narcotics dealers – all men, aged 57, 43, 29, 27, 36 and 35 – into KCJ for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.
During the operation, police also arrested and booked a 35-year-old woman, who was wanted on a felony warrant for breaking a window in Pike Place Market.
