#2021-330135/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 0110 hours, officers responded to an encampment located in the 2600 block of SW Juneau St to assist Seattle Fire with a building fire inside the encampment. Officers determined that the structure had earlier been the site of an incident involving a suspect (see SPD Case number 2021-330034). The structure had completely burned, and the fire was likely set on purpose–though no witnesses came forward to ID a suspect. Officers canvassed and attempted contact at several other mobile structures and tents. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad notified.
#2021-330127/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 0120 hours, reports of 5-6 gunshots were heard in area of 12500 block of 35 Av NE. Officers located evidence of a shooting midblock of 35 Av NE. Several bullet holes were located in a building adjacent on 35 Av NE. Officers checked for injured persons in building but there were none. Bullet was recovered from drywall and submitted to evidence.
#2021-330172/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 0310 hours, officers responded to a fire at a construction site. Approximately 7 minutes later another fire was reported nearby, in a detached garage, in front of a vacant house. Patrol located a witness, and based on the information provided, was then able to find and arrest a suspect. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded to interview the suspect and assist with the investigation.
#2021-330241/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 0607 hours, Franklin High School principal reported to police that a student reported several students received death threats via SnapChat. The suspect also threatened to shoot up the school. Out of an abundance of caution school officials decided to close school for the day. Patrol units also dispatched to provide visible presence.
#2021-330342/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 0831 hours, Rainier Beach High School principal reported to police that a parent of a student reported the student was advised via text not to go to school today as it would be shot up. The text / threats were via 3rd party and were vague in nature. Rainier Beach Staff initiated shelter in place until patrol units arrived. The principal also reported that some time from the end of school yesterday until today an unknown suspect/s shot the exterior of the school. Several bullet holes were located in the school exterior walls / windows. That bullet damage is being treated as a separate incident and is unknown if directly related to the threats call. Patrol units dispatched to provide visible presence and remain on school campus.
#2021-330911/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-15-2021 at 1940 hours, an unknown male suspect entered the foyer of a restaurant holding a black 16qt container filled with an unknown liquid which he began to pour all over the floor and out onto the entryway. The suspect made threatening statements to the customers inside the restaurant then attempted to ignite the fluid with a handheld lighter. He was unsuccessful and fled the area. Officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS) responded to assist with the investigation and recover evidence. ABS detectives will handle all follow-up.
