A 29-year-old man was wounded in a shooting near Cal Anderson Park on Wednesday after an apparent marijuana deal turned into a robbery.
Around 10:40 AM, witnesses flagged down officers near Cal Anderson Park and said they’d just heard gunshots in the area and said a man with a gunshot wound to his leg had fled.
Officers were unable to find a victim at the scene.
About 30 minutes later, police received a report of a man with a gunshot wound near Westlake Avenue North and John Street, and found the victim from the earlier shooting.
The man told police he’d taken a ride-share vehicle away from the scene of the incident.
Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Police believe the shooting was related to an attempted marijuana deal. SPD Robbery detectives are investigating.
