Officers Help Rescue Man From Burning RV

Officers helped pull a man from a burning RV early Thursday in Georgetown.

Officers were on patrol around 3:45 AM when they saw smoke billowing out of an RV the 1300 block of South Angelo Street.

As the the officers approached the RV, they saw a man and woman attempting to extinguish the RV’s resident, who was on fire. Police were able to use a fire extinguisher to douse the flames and pulled the man to safety just as the RV exploded and was consumed by flames.

Seattle Fire Department Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious burns to his hands, head, and body. One officer suffered a minor burn to his hand and was treated at the scene.

The RV fire may have been the result of a heater fire. The City of Seattle has opened warming shelters during our regional cold snap. A list of sites is available here.
