#2022-006296/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 0932 hours, a suspect walked into Target located at 1401 2 AV and attempted to pour and light gasoline on an ATM machine in the lobby of the store. The suspect fled after being confronted by security. The suspect proceeded around the corner to another building and poured gasoline to the front of the lobby before being confronted by security and fleeing southbound on 2 AV before being taken into custody by Patrol. Arson Bomb Squad interviewed the suspect at the scene and will conduct the follow-up. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Inv of Attempt Arson. The gasoline can and lighter were recovered at the scene and placed into SPD Evidence.
#2022-006363/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 1300 hours, officers responded to a report of a bias incident at an apartment complex on !0th Av. The complainant in this incident lives next door to the suspect. For the past couple of days, the suspect has exhibited either narcotics induced or crisis symptoms, screaming and banging on walls. The victim said he politely asked the suspect if he could be quieter as he was trying to sleep. The suspect responded by screaming racial and homophobic slurs at the victim and told him that he was going to violently assault him. As the victim retreated, the suspect slammed the door and continued to scream and beat on the victim’s walls until police arrived. Officers used a CIT Officer to make contact with the suspect and got him to come to the door. The subject was hostile and exhibited the same crisis behavior that the victim had described. After some negotiation, the suspect stepped out of his apartment and angrily approached officers who then placed the suspect under arrest for Investigation of Malicious Harassment. The suspect was booked into King County Jail. The Duty Captain was notified of this event through radio dispatch. The SPD Bias crimes Detective was also notified of this event.
#2022-006380/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 1300 hours, officers were tasked with monitoring the “March for Freedom” rally against mandatory vaccinations. The rally was to begin at Westlake Park at 1300 hours, with a march planned at 1400 hours. As the rally gathered steam, the participants swelled to over 300 (B^=750+) as designated speakers gave speeches. The group left Westlake Park and made its way to Pike Place Market utilizing one lane of the roadway. The group circled the block and walked through the market two times. After an hour of marching, the group returned to Westlake Park where participants ended their rally. The rally was peaceful and no direct police involvement was needed. No arrests were made, nor force used. The rally ended at 1600 hours.
#2022-006505/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 1539 hours, officers responded to investigate the report of an armed robbery at the Target Store located in downtown Seattle. Officers located and apprehended the suspect, without incident. The weapon used in the crime was recovered on scene. The suspect was booked into King County Jail.
#2022-006628/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 1830 hours, a suspect attempted to force his way into the victim’s apartment. The victim and the suspect fought in the doorway. The suspect stabbed the victim with a large kitchen knife causing non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect returned to his apartment. Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene and negotiated with the suspect via the building’s intercom system. The suspect exited his apartment and was taken into custody without further incident.
#2022-006706/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 2059 hours, a victim met the suspect in the 2400 block of NE 65 Street following an Offer-Up agreement to buy a phone. The victim entered the suspect’s vehicle, examined the phone, and expressed disinterest upon realizing it was locked. The suspect responded by pointing a handgun at the victim’s head, then pistol whipped the victim, inflicting significant facial lacerations. The victim fled the vehicle, and the suspect momentarily gave chase before returning to his vehicle and fleeing N/B on 25 Avenue.
#2022-006773/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 2238 hours, an interpreter provided the following information on behalf of the victim, after his co-workers transported him to a local hospital for treatment: Two suspects cornered and attacked the victim as he walked home from his place of business [5500 block Roosevelt Way NE]. A suspect brandished a gun and struck the victim in the head; a suspect was also armed with a knife and slashed the victim numerous times. The suspects ultimately robbed the victim of his wallet containing over 3K before fleeing the scene. A canvas for the suspects met with negative results.
#2022-006786/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-08-2022 at 2315 hours, a subject started a fire to a trash can that was up against the entrance to the Interbay Golf Center. The flames from the fire rose approximately 4-5 feet up the exterior wall of the clubhouse causing damage. Arson Bomb Squad interviewed the subject at the West Precinct and will conduct the follow-up.
