#2022-021451/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-26-2022 at 1146 hours, a victim was approached by unknown male suspects and threatened over the alleged theft of a bicycle. The suspects returned and used gasoline to light the victim’s enclosure on fire. The victim was not injured but his tarps were destroyed. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded and worked with patrol to process the scene, gather evidence, and interview victim/witnesses.

#2022-021400/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-26-2022 at 1500 hours, the Gun Violence Reduction Unit, SWAT, and officers conducted an operation to arrest a suspect wanted for a felony warrant (Assault 2- DV, UPFA, and Intimidating a Witness). The primary suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail for his warrant and new charges. Two associates were arrested for misdemeanor charges, but later I and R’d. Two firearms were located inside the suspect vehicle, which was impounded. A Type 2 Use of Force investigation was initiated.

#2022-021725/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-26-2022 at 1623 hours, a resident of a local mental health housing facility intentionally dropped a table on the head of an employee from his 5th story window. The resident then threatened to kill a separate employee. The resident barricaded himself in his apartment and warned officers that he was armed with a gun. Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT responded to the scene and the resident was taken into custody. The employee suffered only minor injuries.

#2022-021748/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-26-2022 at 1700 hours, officers responded to the Swedish First Hill ER to contact a shooting victim. The victim stated they were shot yesterday, 1/25, while in the International District. The victim was approached by the suspect and there was a verbal argument. As the victim was walking away the suspect shot at them several times, striking them once in the leg. This afternoon, 1/26, the victim decided to seek medical aid and walked to Swedish First Hill. The victim is in stable condition.

#2022-021843/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-26-2022 at 1900 hours, Seattle Fire and SPD officers responded to a reported fire and found several cars fully engulfed on the roof of the building. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS) responded and worked with the Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary information and evidence gathered at the scene suggest the fire was accidental. The investigation continues; ABS will handle the follow-up.
