#2022-039753/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 0010 hours, an officer was responding lights and sirens to a priority 1 call. While approaching the intersection of 12 Av and E Cherry St, the officer struck a civilian’s vehicle, causing severe damage to both vehicles. The officer did not sustain any significant injuries. It was not apparent that the other driver sustained any significant injuries at the time of this SIR. Alcohol/drugs were not believed to be a factor in the collision.
#2022-039877/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 0608 hours, SPD received a call about a demonstration located at the 5900 block of W Marginal Way SW. The callers reported that workers on strike were blocking the entrance and exit to the business which was causing a significant backup of trucks. SPD arrived and saw that Teamsters 174 members were blocking the driveway for an extended period of time. The subjects refused to move. The subjects on strike were advised about blocking the movement of traffic. A representative from the business was also contacted. Teamsters and the representative from the business were given a case number with a business card.
#2022-040023/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 0939 hours, a Lexus SUV was eastbound on S. Michigan St approaching 6 Av S. At the same time, a Kia SUV was southbound on 6 Av S approaching S Michigan. According to witnesses, the Kia drove through a red light southbound in the northbound lane passing stopped vehicles and collided with the eastbound vehicle who was proceeding with a green light. The Lexus driver was treated for minor injuries and transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) via AMR for further evaluation. The errant driver sustained significant injuries; he was transported to HMC via Medic. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the errant driver at HMC; signs of impairment were identified. At the time of this report a blood draw was being sought for the errant driver.
#2022-040096/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 1055 hours, officers responded to a threat call in the 1400 Block of 2 Av. Upon contact with the victim, Probable Cause for felony harassment was developed. The victim reported that the suspect pointed a handgun at him demanding that the victim shoplift items for the suspect. The suspect was located in the 1500 block of 3 AV with a large group of associates and arrested without incident and booked into King County Jail. No gun was recovered. Screened with Robbery.
#2022-040467/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 1716 hours, security at a local drug store called 911 to report a shoplifter. Security observed a firearm in the waistband of the suspect. Officers contacted the suspect as she left the store. A loaded pistol was recovered from the suspect. The suspect is a convicted felon. The suspect was booked into jail.
#2022-040743/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 02-16-2022 at 2355 hours, numerous males associated with an encampment (2600 block 2nd Av) began arguing as they moved eastbound. At 3rd and Cedar, the suspect pulled out a pistol and shot the two victims. Arriving officers applied chest seals to both males. Evidence of a shooting was recovered. One victim was in surgery at the time of this report.
