#2022-041581/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 0136 hours, a suspect was involved in a disturbance at a location then returned and used gasoline to start a fire to the side of an occupied apartment complex. The fire was extinguished by Seattle Fire. No one was displaced due to this fire.

#2022-041732/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 0409 hours, a suspect was in a state of crisis. He used a rock to smash out the glass from a door to the business, made entry with his bedroll and tools. Suspect then broke into other offices and stole a batch of keys. Security found the broken door at street level and called 911. Security started to search the building and ran in to the suspect. Officers converged on the location and set up containment on entry exit points. At one point the suspect ran back into the building when he saw officers as he was exiting. Suspect successfully exited from an unattended door and was apprehended by officers nearby. A show up identification was done, positively identifying him as the suspect security encountered inside the building. Suspect booked into King County Jail for investigation of Burglary and an extraditable No bail Burglary warrant out of Spokane County S.O.

#2022-041781/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 0640 hours, a victim was driving and saw a male standing in the roadway. The victim stopped to see if the male needed assistance. The contact turned into a fight. The suspect produced a handgun and robbed the victim. The female suspect jumped into the victim car and drove away. The male suspect got into his car and followed the victim car. Patrol responded and gathered information for the investigation. Sgt gave the victim a courtesy ride home. After dropping off the victim Sgt saw the suspect car and victim car in the parking lot of the Safeway on Roxbury. He called for additional units to assist with contacting the cars. Before backup arrived, the Mercedes drove out of the lot. Sgt checked the victim car when backup arrived. This car was unoccupied. An officer saw the suspect vehicle driving on 35 Av SW during this time. He followed the car and watched as two occupants were dropped off, a man and a woman. The Mercedes was able to get away. The male and female were contacted and eventually arrested for carjacking and taken to SPD Headquarters. They were interviewed by Robbery Detectives and the female was subsequently booked into King County Jail. The male was identified and released. We identified the driver of the Mercedes as the suspect in the carjacking. He has been identified and is related to several other robberies being investigated by our unit.

#2022-041856/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 0849 hours, a victim arrived at work and was unlocking the food truck when a male suspect walked up behind her with a knife and grabbed her hair. After grabbing her hair, the suspect grabbed the basket of cash, tablets, and phone from the victim. As the suspect was leaving, he cut the victim with his knife on the left forearm. Seattle Fire arrived and treated the injury. An area check was conducted with negative results.

#2022-042078/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 1338 hours, officers responded to a bias call. The victim reported that approximately one week ago, he was the victim of a hate crime. He was in his vehicle at a construction zone somewhere on W Commodore Way when the suspect approached him. The suspect yelled, “Get out of my neighborhood,” followed by calling the victim a racial slur. The victim attempted to drive away, but the suspect followed and struck the victim’s vehicle with his multiple times. The victim fled from his vehicle and approached some Port of Seattle officers. The suspect fled the scene. Due to the week-long time delay and lack of suspect description, responding officers were unable to take enforcement action.

#2022-042080/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at approximately 1220 hours, four juvenile students from the near-by high school were at the mini-mart located near Rainier Av S/ Seward Park Av S. There was a subject sitting in the passenger side of a black Nissan Altima parked next to them with a gun in his lap. The subject asked them if they were members of a certain street gang. The victims told him they were not in a gang and students. As the victims backed out of the lot, the subject exited the vehicle and watched them leave and appeared to have the firearm in his hand. The students returned to school and reported the incident to staff. There was a considerable delay due to the time the students reported the incident when they returned school. Officers were able to review evidence and also provided an extra presence during school release.

#2022-042019/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 02-18-2022 at 1500 hours, officers in coordination with the US Marshals Task Force assisted with the apprehension and search warrant of a suspect wanted for homicide, possession w/intent to deliver Fentanyl out of Skagit County. The suspect resided in North Precinct and was taken into custody without incident. Upon completion of the arrest a search warrant was executed on the apartment for additional evidence. The suspect also possessed an active DOC Felony Escape Warrant at the time of the arrest.
