#2022-046189/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 02-23-2022 at 0016 hours, officers were dispatched to a shooting call near Bitter Lake. According to the call, a male was shot outside an apartment building. Officers arrived and located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The victim refused to provide details on where the shooting occurred or who shot him. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate a scene. The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
#2022-046261 & 046297/East Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-23-2022 at 0355 hours, there were two fires in two different locations one hour apart. In the first fire, two plastic waste containers were set on fire at a closed gas station. One can was located between the gas pumps and the other in the parking lot. Both cans completely melted to the ground, indicating significant combustion had occurred between the gas pumps. Fire Marshal was investigating. Second fire involved an encampment tent fully ingulfed, causing the fire to spread to a parked car. Fire Marshal not available at the time. No suspect information at the time for either fire.
#2022-046307/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-23-2022 at 0509 hours, suspects pried plywood from boarded up window of a business. Approximately 20 suspects then entered the closed business through the opening and grabbed numerous items. As police arrived on scene, the suspects jumped back out of the window and fled in many directions. One of the suspects was captured and booked for burglary. The business was secured and a keyholder responded.
#2022-047021/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 02-23-2022 at 2055 hours, officers responded to a trespasser inside an apartment building [4100 block of 11 Avenue NE]. While being escorted out of the building, the subject intentionally and forcefully swung a wrought iron gate toward one of the officers, striking the officer’s chest, causing transient pain, and narrowly missing the officer’s face. Type II Use of Force was employed while taking the subject into custody. The assault on the officer was screened by Unit Lieutenant.
