#2022-115185/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-08-2022 at 0026 hours, officers working the 3rd and Pine emphasis observed a suspected stolen vehicle with a fraudulent temporary tag parked at 4th and Pine. Officers contacted the driver through the open driver’s side door as the suspect sought to start the car and drive away. Officer intervention to obtain the keys was unsuccessful and the suspect put the vehicle in motion. The officer attempted to control the brake pedal of the car and was semi successful as the suspect drove away at a reduced rate and struck two parked cars. After the second collision the officer stepped off the driver’s door sill plate and the suspect drove away. Area check was negative for the suspect. Officer was not transported but sought medical care for soreness.
#2022-115238/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-08-2022 at 0218 hours, an officer working the West Precinct Nightlife emphasis was flagged down. A citizen reported that a suspect carrying a firearm was headed toward the ‘Sinking Ship.’ The officer broadcasted the information and followed up by checking the area nearby, where he on-viewed a fight disturbance. A victim told officers that he was assaulted, and he pointed out the suspect vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle to investigate. One loaded handgun was recovered from the waist band of one of the five suspect. Two other handguns were observed in the vehicle which was impounded pending a search warrant. One juvenile was arrested and accepted into YSJ. Four of the suspects’ parents were notified and later picked up. The incident was screened by the GVR Unit.
#2022-115304/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-08-2022 at 0433 HRS, numerous calls were made regarding hearing multiple gunshots in the 14000 Block of 30 AV NE. Another caller advised they had evidence of a suspect shooting from a vehicle in front of their residence that indicated a dark-colored SUV pulled onto a side street and then two people begin firing at a light-colored sedan traveling north on 30 AVE NE. Additional evidence of a shooting was located. Due to the suspects tracking the sedan while firing as it was driving north on 30 AVE NE, three residences were struck by rounds. No injuries reported from the residences. The vehicles are still outstanding. The incident was screened with GVRU. Patrol processed the scene.
#2022-115753/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-08-2022 at 1745 hours, dispatch received information from towing dispatcher that their tow driver was being held at knife point and was being forced to drive to a Lake City location. Dispatch was given updates and the tow truck ultimately stopped on the North Lake City WY exit with WSP and SPD immediately behind. Victim jumped out of the truck and the suspect was taken into custody without altercation and booked into KCJ. Knife was recovered from the suspect. The victim was not injured. This incident was screened with Homicide.
