#2022-116023/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2022 at 0141 hours, a victim was riding his bicycle when he stopped and asked another man a question. The suspect then assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground. The victim got up and started to grab his bike to get away when the suspect told the victim to leave the bicycle, or he was really going to hurt him. The victim, fearing for his safety, left and called 911. Officers conducted an area check and located the suspect. A positive I.D. was made, and he was booked into KCJ.
#2022-116037/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2022 at 0210 hours, victims called 9-1-1 and reported that their house had been shot up. Officers responded and located handgun and rifle rounds to the southwest of the residence. A witness reported seeing a suspect park a vehicle around the corner from the residence and walk over to a spot across the street and to the west of the residence, unload a firearm at the victims’ residence, then calmly walk back to his vehicle and drive away at normal speeds. Though officers located evidence of a shooting that indicated multiple shooters, the witness only observed one shooter. The victims’ residence and vehicle were riddled with bullet damage, but no one was injured. Several projectiles were recovered from inside the victims’ residence and submitted for examination. Officers also recovered evidence of a shooting outside the residence.
#2022-116593/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-09-2022 at 1115 hours, detectives from the GVRU, ATF agents and West patrol officers executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of 9th Ave. The suspect was a convicted felon and known gang member with a lengthy history of firearm possession and DV arrests. During service of the warrant a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was previously arrested by West patrol on May 6th for a DV assault and First Degree Robbery under SPD case 2022-104186, but bailed out the next day. A new arrest warrant is pending. Follow up on this case will be handled by the GVRU and DV unit.
#2022-116820/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2022 at 2117 hours, officers responded to an assault call at a Thai restaurant. Upon arrival, the suspect fled from officers and a short foot pursuit ensued. As officers caught the fleeing suspect, a struggle followed to get the suspect into custody. While resisting officers, the suspect kicked one officer and spat directly into the face of the second officer. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody. Neither were seriously injured. Suspect was also found to be on the HUI list. They were booked into KCJ on 2 felony charges.
#2022-116882/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2022 at 2359 hours, 911 callers reported hearing shots fired in the 4400 block of 26 Ave SW. During an area check, evidence of a shooting was recovered from the street and submitted. No suspects, suspect description, victims, specific target or property damage were provided or located. The only callers were “earwitnesses” from several blocks away. Patrol processed the scene. Follow up unit notified.
