After an investigation that disrupted traffic for several hours Thursday morning, detectives determined a suspicious object on a street corner in Hillman City posed no danger to the public.
At 9:47 a.m., an anonymous 911 caller reported a suspicious barrel on the sidewalk at the intersection of Martin Luther King Junior Way South and South Graham Street.
Arriving officers shut down the intersection and evacuated several businesses in the area.
Detectives with SPD’s Arson/Bomb Squad responded to the scene to investigate. After a thorough examination of the barrel, ABS detectives determined it posed no danger to the public.
At about 2:00 p.m., police reopened the roadways in the area.
