#2022-194059/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-26-2022 at 0510 hours, officers responded to a Lake City location to assist Kent PD in apprehending a kidnapping suspect. The suspect assaulted the victim, dragged her into a car, and struck the victim’s teenage daughter with his vehicle as he fled. SPD officers located the vehicle and arrested the suspect. Kent PD detectives responded to the North Precinct for transfer of custody.

#2022-194323/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-26-2022 at 1118 hours, officers responded to a report of a bias incident in the 800 block of E Pike. Employees at a restaurant told officers that a suspect continually comes into their establishment to order cookies/food and in the past the employees have given her some free items. The store recently told her that she would have to pay for the items she orders, and the suspect became irate. Last week she threatened to assault employees and this morning she returned and started using bias terms to refer to employees. The employees were upset by this but did not call 911 right away. Once 911 was called, officers responded to the area, but the suspect was no longer in the area. Bias Crimes notified.

#2022-194595/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-26-2022 at 1626 hours, officers responded to a report of a plane crash in the water off Alki Beach Park. They arrived to find the pilot had extricated himself from the plane and had swum to shore without sustaining injury. He stated the plane had an oil pressure malfunction, leading to the crash. SPD Harbor unit arrived and tagged the fully submerged plane with a locator. Coast Guard, FAA, and NTSB were notified.

#2022-194616/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-26-2022 at 1654 hours, the victim and her family were dining at a restaurant located within the Capital Hill area. They were seated at a table next to a large open door when a female began walking by on Melrose Av. The female suspect stopped and began staring at the victim. She then began yelling bias-related comments at the victim. As the suspect yelled at the victim, the victim tried to laugh it off, but this prompted the suspect to pick up a glass drinking cup from the victim’s table and throw it at the victim’s face. The glass struck the victim on the bridge of her nose and fell to the ground where it shattered. The suspect then walked away toward Pike St. Staff from the bar who witnessed the assault attempted to follow the suspect. While following, the suspect turned toward the server and made a bias statement then said, “If I had a gun, I would have killed you all.” The server stopped following and last saw the suspect walking westbound in the 1100 block of Pike St. East and west officers responded to this call and collected a description and photo of the suspect. An extensive area check was conducted, but the suspect was not located. A/LT, bias crimes, PIO, the precinct captain, and the night duty captain were all advised.

#2022-194670/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-26-2022 at 1814 hours, officers and Seattle Fire responded to a reported arson involving three rental box vans. A witness provided a description of the female suspect who was located and apprehended by patrol. The female was treated for burn injuries and booked for Arson 2. ABS responded to assist and will handle the follow up investigation.
