#2022-196090/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 0030 hours, officers had removed some trespassers from a park. One of them stuck an officer with a shopping cart in an attempt to reenter the park. The suspect was then arrested after a brief struggle where minimum force was used. The suspect sustained a minor lip laceration that could not be explained and made multiple complaints of pain. A Type 2 Use of Force was initialized and an OPA screening. Incident screened by Lt.

#2022-196205/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 0448 hours, a male victim reported that a suspect threw a chair through his store front window. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. Once in the patrol car the suspect managed to get his cuffs in front of him, removed his shirt, and started banging his head against the divider. An AMR was called and during the process of securing him to the gurney, the suspect made multiple threats to assault officers and intentionally pinched one of the officer’s fingers in the handcuffs. Although it caused the officer pain, he did not sustain an injury. Suspect will be booked for assault 3 & malicious mischief. Type 1 Use of Force initiated and incident screened.

#2022-196301/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 0756 hours, an officer was driving at 35 Ave SW/SW Morgan St and was flagged down by Seattle Fire about a suspect trying to set propane tanks on fire at the Walgreens. The suspect started a fire under the propane tanks next to an occupied Walgreens. The officer asked for additional units. The suspect then went to the 6400 BLK of 34 Ave SW and began damaging large windows around the apartment building. Once additional officers arrived, a contact team was formed. Officers de-escalated the suspect, and he was placed in custody without incident. Fire Marshal responded to investigate the fire. The incident was screened with SPD’s ABS. The suspect was booked for felony Malicious Mischief and charges were requested for Reckless Burning. The suspect has significant criminal history.

#2022-196580/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 1315 hours, WSP requested officers assist them with traffic control for a vehicle on fire on I-5 South. A uniformed command post was established with SPD, SFD, WSP, SDOT, WA DOT. Officers remained on scene until cleared by WSP.

#2022-196640/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 1430 hours, officers observed a vehicle with no plates commit several traffic infractions. Officers attempted a traffic stop at 23rd Av and E Fir St. The suspect vehicle initially stopped then fled once officers exited their vehicle. The fleeing vehicle fled NB on 22nd Av and almost immediately collided with an occupied small excavator and a dump truck doing road work. The vehicle became lodged between the two construction vehicles and partially fell into an approx. 6 ft hole in the ground. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot from officers but was later taken into custody. Located inside the suspect’s vehicle were two loaded firearms on the driver’s side floorboard. Seattle Animal Control responded to take custody of 11-12 week old puppy that suspect had with him when he fled police, crashed the car, and continued to flee on foot. A search warrant was written to secure the weapons and any additional evidence, and the suspect was booked into KCJ for Inv of Eluding, Inv of UPFA x2 with charges of hit and run attended, VUCSA and obstruction.

#2022-197105/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-28-2022 at 2331 hours, victim and witness were walking their dog in the area of the 4500 block 38 AVE SW when they were approached by a suspect (unknown). Suspect was agitated and pushed victim, pressing his finger against victim’s nose and mouth without provocation. Suspect pointed a box cutter at victim and extended the blade making threats. Suspect was located and booked into KCJ for assault and felony threats.
