#2022-219110/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-19-2022 at 0213 hours, officers were on patrol at Cal Anderson Park when a lime green, newer model Kia Soul intentionally rammed their patrol vehicle. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however, the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed into west and eventually north precinct. The vehicle was not re-located.

#2022-219620/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-19-2022 at 1425, after being detained by store security for shoplifting, a suspect removed a knife, started waving it around, and threatened to kill the store employees. Employees held the doors closed to prevent the suspect from entering and carrying out her threat. While outside, the suspect targeted two other women, used bias motivated remarks while holding the knife. She later spat on and threatened the two passersby. Those victims felt as though the suspect targeted them due to their race. The suspect was taken into custody and booked without incident.

#2022-219883/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-19-2022 at 1911 hours, CRG with assistance from GIU and GVRU, conducted a narcotics operation in the downtown core. Over the course of the day, officers made a total of nine felony arrests for crimes such as delivery of a controlled substance, multiple felony warrant arrests, and one arrest for possession of a dangerous weapon. In total, officers seized approximately 40.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, small trace amounts of methamphetamine, and approximately 7.1 grams of Xanax. On the final arrest of the day, officers arrested a male who was armed with two firearms in his waistband at 7th and Pike St. Each firearm had a round in the chamber with a total of 31 rounds between the two firearms.

#2022-220075/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-19-2022 at 2254 hours, officers were conducting an occupied stolen vehicle recovery and arrest near E Marginal Way S when they came under attack by high-velocity projectiles launched with a slingshot from the area of the railroad tracks west of E Marginal Way S. Officers had to not only take cover to protect themselves but also move their in-custody suspect for his safety. Backing units were called in and a suspect was located hiding in a dark/unlit area between the railroad tracks where the rocks had come from. Post Miranda the suspect admitted to launching the rocks at officers, and a slingshot (“wrist-rocket”) was recovered from his person. He was taken into custody for three counts of Assault-3. No officers, nor the original suspect, were injured.
