Police are investigating after a man was shot in the ankle during an attempted robbery in Belltown on Tuesday night.
At about 10:30 p.m., police responded to 4th Avenue and Battery Street for reports of gunshots. Officers found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his ankle. Seattle Fire Department medics treated the man at the scene, and he was transported to Harborview Medical Center via private ambulance for additional care.
The victim told officers he was approached by two male suspects, who told him he was being robbed. When he did not give them any of his belongings, one of the suspects produced a gun and shot at his feet, striking him in the ankle. The two men then fled on foot.
Officers collected shell casings at the scene and documented ballistic damage to a nearby car.
Detectives will continue to investigate this incident.
