Police arrested an engaged couple Downtown on Thursday evening after they used two illegal weapons to assault a man in a fight.
At about 6:15 p.m., officers working emphasis patrol at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street were flagged down about a fight. Officers found a man with multiple stab wounds and lacerations on his head and began first aid. Seattle Fire Department medics responded to treat the 47-year-old victim and eventually transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
Meanwhile, near Westlake Park a couple flagged down another emphasis officer to report they had been pepper sprayed by the stabbing victim. The engaged man and woman said they had been riding a bus on 3rd Avenue when the man approached them and touched the woman’s leg. A brief verbal altercation ensued, and then all three disembarked at 3rd Avenue and Pike Street.
After they all got off the bus, the victim pepper sprayed the couple. The couple then responded by attacking the man with spiked brass knuckles and a switchblade knife – both of which were recovered from the male fiancé.
Officers arrested the man and woman for felony assault, and will also be requesting charges for possession of dangerous weapons. Police booked the 22-year-old man and 24-year-old woman into the King County Jail.
