SPD Student Officer Charged With Cyberstalking, Placed on Unpaid Leave

The Seattle Police Department has put a student officer on unpaid administrative leave after he was charged with cyberstalking in Seattle Municipal Court.

Earlier this year, a woman contacted police and reported she had received a series of harassing messages over a span of months via text and social media following a date with student officer Jafar Al-Salehi. The woman also expressed concern that Al-Salehi had offered to show her his firearm during their date.  Detectives in SPD’s Domestic Violence Unit investigated and forwarded a case to prosecutors.

Al-Salehi entered the department’s field training program this year and is still in his probationary period.

As the criminal case and an Office of Police Accountability investigation proceed, Al-Salehi will be on administrative leave without pay.

Court documents related to this case are publicly available through the Seattle Municipal Court website.
