Officers responded to a disturbance within the 1200 Block of East Remington Court after multiple callers reported a man was screaming, throwing items and banging on walls in an apartment building in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood Tuesday evening.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers arrived and spoke with victims who said they were in fear for their safety, when the suspect began screaming threats to kill and damaged nearby vehicles. Police contacted the suspect at his apartment, but he refused to step out and appeared to have barricaded himself within the apartment.
SPD Hostage Negotiators responded to the scene and assisted in communicating with the suspect. The suspect eventually exited his apartment and was placed under arrest without incident.
The suspect was later booked into King County Jail for threats to kill.
