#2023-017628/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-19-2023 at 0030 hours, an officer was on patrol in the downtown district when he observed a vehicle being driven erratically. As the officer turned on his lights to conduct a traffic stop, the offender vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue. The driver disregarded red lights as he fled eastbound – striking the victim driver at 5/Pike. The suspect driver attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by arriving officers. Though the high-speed impact “totaled” both vehicles, no significant injuries were reported. The suspect driver was processed for DUI.
