Police Arrest Eight, Seize Guns, Narcotics in Saturday Afternoon Operation

Officers involved in a narcotics operation arrested eight suspects, seized two guns, and confiscated more than 130 grams of narcotics in the span of three hours Downtown on Saturday afternoon.

Police focused on two areas for the operation: 3rd Avenue and Pike Street, and 2nd Avenue and Bell Street.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., officers in the 300 block of Pike Street saw a man and woman conduct multiple narcotics transactions. As police approached the suspects to arrest them, the woman handed a pill bottle to a female accomplice, whom officers then also arrested.

The woman originally seen dealing drugs had powdered fentanyl, methamphetamine and a handgun on her person when she was arrested, and she does not have a license to carry a concealed weapon. She was booked into King County Jail for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and police requested charges for unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.

The pills in the bottle the woman handed to her accomplice were fentanyl. The second woman was also booked into KCJ for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.

The man was carrying methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and several credit cards that were not his – including one that was reported stolen in Seattle late last year. Officers arrested the man for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of stolen property. He was declined at KCJ for medical reasons so officers transported him to Harborview Medical Center. Due to staffing constraints, officers could not keep the man in custody for the duration of his treatment, so he was released at the hospital.

Meanwhile, just fifteen minutes after the first three arrests, another officer recognized a warrant suspect in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue. When police stopped him for his theft warrant, they discovered he had fentanyl, methamphetamine and a handgun. The man is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Police booked him into KCJ for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Lastly, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers around the 200 block of Bell Street watched four suspects make several narcotics transactions. The men appeared to all be working together. Officers arrested all four men and seized crack cocaine, fentanyl and heroin from them. Police booked all four into KCJ for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.

In total, officers seized approximately:

65.8 grams fentanyl pills and powder

48.4 grams methamphetamine

16.4 grams cocaine and crack cocaine

4.2 grams heroin

$1800 cash
