Hidden Suspect Found and Arrested After Threats with Gun

Seattle Police responded to a report of a woman shot at by a man in the Pioneer Square neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Officers arrived at approximately 00:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Yesler Way. Police contacted a woman who reported a known man confronted her while she was on the street. After a verbal altercation with the 25-year-old female victim became heated, the 30-year-old male suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and fired a round into the air.

Before leaving the area, the suspect threatened to kill the victim as he pointed the gun at her a second time. The suspect left with another woman on foot last seen heading towards South Jackson Street. The victim reported no injury from the confrontation with the suspect.

Police learned the suspect was possibly walking to a known address and began to search for him. Officers found a man matching the suspect description walking with a woman eastbound on South Jackson Street. When officers attempted to detain the man, he ran from them.

Officers chased after the man on foot to a construction site of an abandoned property, where he climbed over a fence to escape from officers. Police secured the area and found the suspect hidden within an alcove on the property.

The male suspect was arrested for assault and his outstanding assault warrant and booked into King County Jail. Police requested additional charges for criminal trespass and obstruction.

During the search incident to arrest, the gun was not recovered. Police conducted a search for the weapon but did not locate it.
