Suspect Arrested After Shooting a Man Early This Morning

Seattle Police responded to several calls about shots heard and reports of someone injured in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Police arrived just after 02:00 a.m. in the 700 block of East Denny Way and located a man with a gunshot wound to his knee. Officers quickly provided medical aid by applying a tourniquet.  Seattle Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim via AMR to Harborview Medical Center.

The 22-year-old male victim reported a known man shot him but could not provide further details about what occurred prior to the assault. After shooting the victim, the 20-year-old male suspect left walking southbound from the location.

Officers searched for the suspect and found a man matching the description walking near the 1600 block of Belmont Avenue. Upon receiving further information from the victim about the suspect’s identity, police confirmed the man was the suspect and arrested him for assault and unlawful possession of a firearm due to being a convicted felon. He was later booked into King County Jail.

SPD K9 responded to the scene and completed an evidence track that resulted in locating two handguns with extended magazines. Officers also recovered spent shell casings from an alley way near Boylston Avenue East.
