Arson Suspect Arrested After Setting Fires and Flooding Apartments

Police received a 911 call about a woman setting fires in her Belltown apartment, causing the flooding of other units.

Officers arrived at about 09:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Cedar Street and found the 62-year-old woman lying in the hallway of the apartment building, completely soaked from the sprinkler system activation. Seattle Fire Department personnel were also on scene.

Officers discovered three different areas in the suspect’s apartment where fires were lit.

There was significant damage to the apartment building, but no residents reported injuries.

The suspect was arrested for arson and transported by SFD to Harborview Medical Center for medical evaluation. She is expected to eventually be booked into the King County Jail.
