#2023-061546/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 03-05-2023 at 1504 hours, officers were dispatched to a parking garage in 600 block of 5 Ave. The subject climbed over a barrier and entered the garage. The subject appeared to be in crisis. When officers contacted him on the 6th floor, he began to hold an object to his neck. After speaking with the subject, he eventually dropped the object. Subject was taken into custody and placed on an ITA due to being a danger to himself. Incident screened.
#2023-061719/West Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1904 hours, officers were dispatched to a suspected overdose in the 1400 block of 3rd Av near the bus shelter. As officers were on scene assisting fire, an unknown male suspect approached the primary officer and reported a stabbing. The primary officer requested more units to assist. The primary officer continued with his original call while waiting for backing units to arrive. The suspect apparently wanted all the officer’s attention, so he began slapping the officer’s arm with his hand and shoved the officer several times. Responding officers quickly took the suspect into custody for assault. It was determined that no stabbing had taken place and that the suspect suffered from apparent mental illness and illegal substance use. As one of the backing officers was placing the suspect into the patrol vehicle, the suspect spat onto the officer’s face. The suspect was subsequently booked into KCJ for two counts of assault. Incident screened. The dispatch supervisor was notified, and page was completed.
