Seattle Police officers responded to a report of a woman who was shot in Belltown Saturday morning.
When officers arrived shortly after 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Vine Street and 2nd Avenue they found a 34-year-old victim with what officers believed to be a grazing gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The victim told officers she was in the passenger seat of her friend’s vehicle when she heard a loud pop. The victim stated after she heard the sound she immediately began to bleed from the back of the head.
Neither the victim nor her friend could say where the suspected gunshot came from. Officers found a possible bullet entry point in a rear window of the vehicle and a potential bullet fragment hole in the passenger side headrest.
Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived, and the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives will continue to investigate this case.
