Seattle Police responded to assist Seattle Fire Department with a massive fire involving multiple boats in an off-water boat storage facility early this morning in the University District neighborhood.
SPD Harbor units and patrol arrived around 2:15 a.m. in the 700 block of Northeast Northlake Way and secured the area for SFD to extinguish the fire. During the investigation, an Arson Bomb Squad detective located a man hidden inside a boat moored in the water.
The 31-year-old* man was detained and later transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. There was no one else located at the time of the incident.
Arson Bomb Squad identified the man transported to HMC as the suspect. He was arrested for arson and will be booked into King County Jail once medically cleared.
