Seattle Police observed a suspicious vehicle early this morning in Georgetown neighborhood.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., officers attempted to detain the vehicle at a nearby business, but it eluded them near the intersection of 6th Avenue South and South Michigan Street. The car was reacquired by police a short time later in the same area.
The male suspect driver resisted officers, got back into his vehicle and in his escape by driving off caused injury to the officers. The suspect vehicle rammed another police vehicle fleeing from the location.
Responding officers assisted in stopping the vehicle from leaving the area by performing a vehicle tactic rendering the suspect vehicle inoperable.
Seattle Fire Department responded and provided medical aid at the scene. Officers sustained minor injuries from being dragged from the fleeing suspect car and were transported to Harborview Medical Center. The suspect sustained non-life-threatening minor injuries.
The 34-year-old suspect was arrested for assault, driving under the influence, and eluding. He will be booked later into King County Jail.
SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad, Force Investigation Team, and CSI responded to assist with processing the scene.
Homicide detectives will lead the investigation of this case.
