Suspect Arrested After Robbery at Knifepoint in Capitol Hill

Yesterday, at 4:22 p.m. Seattle Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a 24-year-old victim was robbed at knifepoint in the 500 block of Broadway East.

An officer arrived in the area and was flagged down by a witness who pointed out the 50-year-old male suspect. Before the officer was able to contact the suspect, the suspect attempted to carjack the vehicle of a 20-year-old victim. The officer intervened and commanded the suspect to stop. The suspect initially refused commands, but once additional officers arrived the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A knife was recovered at the scene.

Officers interviewed the victim of the initial robbery and learned the victim was outside a coffee shop when the suspect approached. The victim stated the suspect pointed a knife at them and demanded their purse. The victim tried to prevent the theft, but the suspect stole the purse and ran away.

Police learned the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant for theft.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for robbery and the warrant.
