Officers working the Metropolitan Improvement District emphasis shift observed a fight between two males early Friday evening in Downtown.
Police arrived around 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Union Street to contact the two males but they both ran away. Officers contacted one of the males and checked to see if he was injured from the physical altercation.
The 14-year-old male reported no injuries. However, during the conversation police noticed what looked like a gun in the satchel the male had in his possession. Officers attempted to detain him, but he resisted and ran into traffic.
After a brief foot pursuit, police placed the suspect into custody. Officers recovered a ghost handgun with a loaded magazine.
The suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and additional charges of obstruction and resisting arrest were requested. He was later booked into the King County Child and Family Justice Center.
