A South Precinct officer recovered a stolen handgun during a traffic stop in the Rainier Valley Thursday evening.
Around 5 p.m., an officer patrolling the 3900 block of S Kenyon Street stopped a pickup truck for a traffic violation.
The driver admitted to the officer he had a firearm in his waistband and no permit to carry a concealed weapon. Police placed the driver in custody and recovered a Glock pistol which was reported stolen out of Seattle.
Officers also confirmed the suspect was a convicted felon and prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.
The 38-year-old suspect was transported to the King County Jail and booked for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen firearm.
