Vehicle Collision Causes Emergency Water Rescue

Southwest Precinct patrol and SPD’s Harbor Unit responded to a vehicle collision in the 1300 block of Alki Avenue Southwest in the West Seattle neighborhood.

Officers arrived just before 6:00 p.m. and observed a vehicle submerged in the water and community members performing life saving measures on a woman.

Police took over medical care for both subjects involved in the collision until Seattle Fire arrived on scene. Both subjects were later transported to Harborview Medical Center. The female victim sustained life-threatening injuries and the male suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the collision.

It was reported to police the suspect vehicle was traveling at a high-rate of speed before crashing into the victim’s vehicle.

The impact caused the victim’s vehicle to be pushed into the water and the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop in front of an apartment building off the roadway.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives will be leading the investigation of this case.
