Seattle police arrested a man for a fugitive warrant and investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm Wednesday in Ballard.
At 4:40 a.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting a male was abducted at gunpoint in the 1700 block of NW 56th Street. Officers arrived and learned the victim may have been taken to an encampment along the Burke Gilman Trail.
North Precinct patrol officers, along with members of the Community Response Group, were able to ascertain the suspect’s identity and confirm he was the subject of an outstanding felony warrant. Officers responded to the encampment and located the suspect’s tent. When officers contacted the suspect, he fled. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took the male into custody. Officers served a warrant on the tent and located a handgun.
The alleged kidnapping victim was located uninjured.
The 40-year-old male suspect was booked into King County Jail.
