Two Suspects Arrested, Stolen Vehicle, Gun and Ballistic Vest Recovered

Yesterday afternoon, a 911 call was received about a running vehicle with two sleeping men in the Montlake neighborhood.

Officers arrived around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 24th Avenue East and East Miller Street and learned the vehicle was reported stolen in the city of Seattle. When police contacted the two men, they did not comply with commands to exit the vehicle.

The driver instead rammed the patrol vehicles to maneuver around them and drove onto the sidewalk. The vehicle collided with multiple trees, shrubbery, and a metal sign before becoming partly disabled. The vehicle slowed once it returned onto the roadway. At this time, the passenger, a 24-year-old male, fled from the car on foot. Police detained him after a brief foot pursuit.

The 27-year-old suspect driver continued his attempt to flee from the location but collided with two parked vehicles. Once the car stopped, he fled from the car but was detained soon after by police.

After a search of the suspects and the vehicle, police recovered the following:

  • A loaded firearm
  • Ballistic vest (worn by suspect driver)
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • 1.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 0.7 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Tadalafil pills
  • Approximately $240 in cash

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, malicious mischief, unlawful possession of a firearm, possible DUI charge, and his outstanding felony warrant. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of narcotics with the intent to deliver. After receiving medical care, both suspects were booked into King County Jail.
