Attempted Burglary Results in Excessive Damage to Downtown Business

Earlier this morning around 3:30 a.m., a security guard at a Downtown business called 911 to report a vehicle ramming the building in order to make entry into a store.

Police arrived in the 500 block of Pine Street to find a large display window damaged by not only the vehicle, but also gunshots. Officers did not locate anyone injured during the incident.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage showing two vehicles involved in the attempted burglary. A black or gray Kia Soul and a red sedan with a black hood. The footage shows the Kia Soul ramming the business display window multiple times causing the glass to spider but not break. The suspect driver then exits the vehicle and kicks the glass multiple times with no success. He finally produces a firearm and shoots at the window multiple times before leaving the area.

Two other subjects approach the window and try to break the window as well. All three subjects leave the scene, the suspect driver in the Kia Soul and the other two subjects in the red sedan possibly a Dodge Charger or Challenger.

Police collected evidence of the shooting and were provided the total cost of the damage to the business to be approximately $32,000.
