Chronic Nuisance Declaration Letters Served to Two Property Owners

On July 26th, 2023, The Seattle Police Department, in collaboration with the Seattle City Attorney’s office, served Chronic Nuisance Declaration letters to the property owners of the Emerald Motel and the Seattle Inn.

This is in response to numerous complaints from residents and business owners regarding concerns over increasing crime and violence in the neighborhood.

Reports of robberies, assaults, drug dealing, human trafficking and other criminal activity have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among members of the community.

Recognizing the urgent need to address these issues, Chief Adrian Z. Diaz signed two declarations highlighting the failure to maintain safe and secure environments, while also shedding light on the direct connection to illegal activities.

The evidence gathered by SPD, in collaboration with the Seattle City Attorney’s office, reveals a pattern of drug dealing, violence and prostitution occurring regularly on the premises.

Most recently, Seattle Police arrested a 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old male for human trafficking, after a report of a woman being held captive and trafficked out of the Seattle Inn.

The Chronic Nuisance Declaration letters require the Emerald Motel and Seattle Inn to take immediate action, within seven days of service, to eradicate all illegal activities and safety concerns.
