Around 10:00 p.m. Saturday, police received a call about a man threatening another resident with a gun in Fremont.
Officers arrived in the 4400 block of Dayton Avenue North and spoke with multiple victims who stated a man had threatened them with a firearm too.
One of the victims, a 44-year-old man, reported the known suspect approached him with what appeared to be an assault rifle style pistol. As the suspect pulled out the firearm, he threatened the victim and readied the weapon to fire.
The two were involved in a verbal altercation earlier in the day which may have led to the events that occurred later in the evening.
After the suspect threatened the victim, he left the location to park his vehicle but then returned on foot. At this time, the victim had returned to his apartment.
The 37-year-old male suspect attempted to enter the apartment using a code. When it failed, he forced entry into the apartment by kicking the door down. After a disturbance within the residence, the victim called the police and was advised to exit for his safety. Three other subjects joined the victim in exiting from the apartment.
The suspect proceeded to lock himself in a room within the home. Police secured the location and applied for a search warrant to take him into custody.
SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT arrived to assist in serving the warrant and arresting the suspect. Police recovered a shotgun located near the suspect at the time of his arrest.
The male suspect was booked into King County Jail for harassment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
