Rainier Valley DUI Arrest Recovers Stolen Firearm and Narcotics

On Sunday October 22nd, police received a report about a man passed out behind the steering wheel of a running vehicle in the middle of the roadway.

When officers arrived around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Junior Way South and South Othello Street, they found a running vehicle in fact stopped in the middle of the roadway.

The suspect woke briefly as police initially contacted him causing his foot to be released from the brake. The vehicle slowly rolled forward until it came to a stop against a curb. Officers were able to remove the man, who showed obvious signs of impairment, from the vehicle and placed him under arrest for driving under the influence.

During the search incident to arrest, officers located a firearm that was reported stolen out of Renton. In addition to the firearm, 11.7 grams of fentanyl and 3.8 grams of cocaine were recovered.

Police completed the DUI investigation and obtained a blood warrant before the 38-year-old male suspect was booked into King County Jail. He was arrested for driving under the influence, violation of the uniform controlled substance act, and possession of a stolen firearm.
