Detectives Investigate After Two Men Injured in Rainier Vista Shootout

Seattle Police Department Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives are investigating a shootout between two males that left them seriously injured Thursday afternoon in Rainier Vista neighborhood.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m., dispatch received reports of a shooting in the 4300 block of Jill Place South. Officers arrived and spoke to witnesses that stated two males were in an altercation and started shooting at each other. The two subjects were shot at the scene, first subject is a 21-year-old male, and the second subject is a male in his 20’s. After being shot the first man entered a black vehicle and drove away from the scene. The second male was picked up in a red vehicle.   

The first subject drove to South Alaska Street and South Columbian Way and crashed the vehicle. Police arrive, located the man with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious condition. The second male victim was dropped off at HMC in serious condition with a gunshot wound.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives responded and are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. The subject driving the red vehicle was not contacted.
