Tuesday evening police responded to a report of a collision involving an 86-year-old male driver that struck a Seattle Fire Department vehicle.
At 6:55 p.m., officers arrived in the 500 block of Elliott Avenue West and found an SUV that collided with a parked SFD vehicle. Medical personnel had removed the man from his vehicle and were actively performing CPR.
Firefighters stated that they arrived at the location on a medical call and parked their vehicle unoccupied with the emergency lights activated. While inside the building SFD personnel heard a loud crash. Upon returning, they saw that a car struck their vehicle, and the driver was unresponsive. They immediately provided medical aid to the driver.
After life-saving efforts, SFD pronounced the 86-year-old male deceased at the scene.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine cause and manner of death.
