A man seen stripping a vehicle on the roadway draws suspicion from a nearby business employee.
Police located the occupied vehicle in the 5000 block of 15th Avenue Northwest around 4:30p.m. As officers approached, the suspect driver became aware of their presence and began aggressively maneuvering the vehicle to flee from the location.
The suspect driver drove the vehicle onto the sidewalk striking a large boulder in a planter area merely missing multiple tents nearby. Luckily the tents were not occupied.
Even after several commands from police, the suspect driver refused to stop and recklessly rammed into an RV and two patrol vehicles before driving off eastbound on Northwest 50th Street.
A witness reported to police the suspect was involved in other recent incidents and provided a suspect description of a White male in his 50’s with a stocky build, 5’6”-5’8” in height, wearing a black jacket and tan pants. Police also obtained surveillance footage of the possible suspect who frequented the area to assist in the investigation.
About a week later, the witness called police to report the suspect was back in the area. Officers responded and located a man matching the description of the suspect from the previous incident. The 35-year-old male suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect vehicle was reported stolen and was already impounded days before for further evidence processing.
The suspect was arrested for assault, malicious mischief, eluding a police vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and his multiple outstanding felony warrants. Police requested additional charges for having a revoked license and vehicle theft tools. He was booked into King County Jail.
