Woman Shot in University District Neighborhood

Detectives are investigating after a woman was shot in North Seattle’s University District.

Thursday morning shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the 5200 block of 22nd Avenue Northeast.   

Police arrived and located a 20-years-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers provided aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a non-life threating injury. 

The woman was approached by an unidentified suspect before the unprovoked shooting. An empty vehicle and building were also hit by gunfire.

After the incident, the suspect fled the scene on foot. 

Gun Violence Reduction Unit Detectives responded to HMC and are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. The suspect has not been identified.
