#2024-98867/South Precinct/First Watch

At 1030 hours, ART Officers were notified by SDOT employees that they were just assaulted under a bridge off near S Lucile St. The SDOT employee was conducting an encampment check when an unhoused individual began throwing bottles striking the employee in the back and breaking another on a shopping cart the employee took cover behind. ART Officers attempted to contact the suspect in the encampment however he was GOA. The SDOT employee was not injured during the assault.  

#2024-98678/West Precinct/First Watch

At 0629 hours, double decker bus was travelling northbound on 4 Ave at Columbia St, when a warning light came on inside. The driver exited the bus to check the rear battery and failed to set the brake. The vehicle rolled backwards and collided with the building on the SE corner. None of the riders suffered injuries. The driver fell when running to catch up to the bus and suffered an injury to his hand. The bus was removed from the building with minimal damage to the building.

#2024-98886/South Precinct/First Watch

At 1055 hours, ART Officers were informed via South Radio that a known suspect has trespassed inside of Jose Rizal Park. Officers were updated on the suspect’s identity and were aware that he had a warrant for his arrest. Officers located the suspect deep in the bramble bushes, building a new structure and further damaging the park. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into KCJ.

#2024-99147/East Precinct/Second Watch

At 1436 hours, an unknown male entered the Wells Fargo Bank on the 4000 block of E Madison St and demanded cash from the teller, implying he had a weapon. After receiving a few hundred dollars, the male fled WB from the location. An area check proved unsuccessful. Follow up unit Detectives were notified.

#2024-99487/East Precinct/Third Watch

At 2125 hours, East Precinct Officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle with the occupants slumped over. The plate was reported as stolen. Officers developed a plan and placed tire deflation devices underneath the vehicle. Officers attempted a high risk stop; however, the occupants did not wake or respond. Officers approached the vehicle to hail the occupants. The driver woke up and refused to comply with commands and attempted to drive away, puncturing his tires in the process. Officers kept an eye on the vehicle as it drove away at slow speeds. When the suspect vehicle drove onto 520 Westbound Officers informed WSP and ceased their attempts at maintaining a visual. SPD soon learned that the vehicle exited the 520 and was driving near 10 AV E. Officers relocated the vehicle. The suspects were attempting to steal another vehicle when they were placed under arrest. The suspect driver was arrested for Possession of Stolen Vehicle, DUI, Hit and Run, and Vehicle Theft.
