Police are investigating after a man was stabbed during an attempted robbery in Magnuson Park.
Monday shortly before 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a male stabbed at 7400 Sand Point Way Northeast [Magnuson Park]. Police arrived and located a 64-year-old man suffering from lacerations to his left forearm. Aid was provided at the scene and the man was transported to University of Washington Medical Center with non-life threating injuries.
The victim was walking in the park near the bathrooms and was grabbed from behind by two males. The victim turned around and one of the suspects was holding a knife and demanded the man’s cellphone. The victim pulled away from the suspects and was cut on the arm.
After the stabbing both suspects ran from the scene and were able to elude police. SPD K9 briefly tracked the suspects but were unable to locate them. The two suspects remain outstanding.
Officers recovered the knife and other evidence at the scene.
