#2024-095675/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0815 hours, unhoused female started fire to exterior wall of downtown building. The fire damage covered a large portion of the exterior wall of the building. Seattle Fire responded and extinguished the fire. The suspect was taken into custody after being identified by Transit Security as having started the fire. The suspect was booked for Arson 2.
#2024-096372/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0158 hours, a vehicle was traveling Westbound on SW Yancy St and entered the intersection at SW Avalon WY. A second vehicle was traveling Southbound on SW Avalon Wy and a two-vehicle rollover collision occurred. SPD and SFD responded, and SW Avalon Wy was shut down for almost an hour. Neither driver had life threatening injuries. The drivers didn’t show any signs of impairment.
#2024-096456/West Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2333 hours, police on-viewed a grey Acura SUV driving southbound on the west side walk of 3rd Avenue and James Street running over tents. Police arrived and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the SUV eluded them. A pursuit was authorized until it was determined there were no victims in the tents at which time the pursuit was terminated. Shortly thereafter, the same SUV returned to the scene and an occupant reportedly fired multiple shots. Officers returned and were unable to locate casings, property damage or victims willing to come forward. The suspect was not identified.
#2024-096392/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2121 hours, the victim was seated in the bus shelter at MLK/S Grahams St in front of the McDonalds when a unknown family entered the shelter to wait for the Metro bus. One of the children snatched the phone from the victim. Officers arrived but were unable to communicate directly with the victim due to a language barrier. Officers attempted to contact the language line, but no interpreter was available. The family left the area on the bus and the victim’s son later arrived on scene for translation purposes, and the victim stated one of the children had taken her phone. Robbery was notified of the incident.
#2024-096411/South Precinct/Third Watch
At 2152 hours, 5 Juveniles ran into the market located at 9200 block of Rainier Av S and stole merchandise from the store. Store security attempted to stop one of the juvenile males concealing items from the store. The suspect began assaulting the security guard. The other suspects postured as if to join in the assault, so the security guard began swinging to defend himself from further assaults. The group of juveniles were detained at Rainier Av S/S Henderson St and a show up was done. The main juvenile that assaulted security was not there. The security guard declined medical attention. Robbery was notified of the incident.
