A 13-year-old girl was injured after a man fired several rounds towards a group Saturday night in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of East Fir Street. When they arrived, they located the juvenile with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided aid to the teen until Seattle Fire Department (SFD) personnel arrived. SFD transported her to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Police learned that prior to the shooting there was a disturbance between the suspect, his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s family. During the argument, the suspect retrieved a handgun from his car and fired several shots towards the family members. The teen was struck once in each leg and was the only one injured.
The Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be leading the investigation. If anyone has information about the incident, please call SPD’s Violent Crime Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
