Update: Man Arrested for Shooting in Chinatown-International District

Seattle Police arrested a 39-year-old man for shooting at another in the 400 block of South Jackson Street.

On July 25th at about 12:40 p.m., patrol officers that were familiar with the previous incident located the suspect on the roof of the building and took him into custody.

They recovered a realistic looking gun. And upon service of a search warrant, multiple pieces of additional evidence. After an extensive search, the gun believed to be used in the shooting was not located.

The suspect was arrested for Assault 1st Degree, a $50,000 warrant for domestic violence Assault and Harassment, a $20,000 warrant for Escape in the 2nd Degree, and a Violation of a No Contact Order.

He was booked into King County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bail.

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading this investigation.


Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Chinatown-International District neighborhood.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., 911 Dispatch (CARE) received a report of a shooting in the 400 block of South Jackson Street. Officers arrived and found a 42-year-old man suffering from a gunshot graze wound to the leg.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived and provided aid and the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.

A witness stated the victim was involved in an altercation with a 34-year-old male suspect shortly before the shooting. The suspect fired a round into the ground, and it ricocheted and grazed the victim in the lower leg area. The suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Officers on attempted to contact the suspect at his apartment with negative results.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives will be leading the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. The suspect has been identified but is not in custody at this time.
