Seattle Police arrested a man for assaulting multiple people, impersonating a federal agent, and assaulting a police officer in the Denny Tringle Sunday morning.
On September 22nd at 10:54 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of man punching three people in the 2200 block of Westlake Avenue. The suspect punched the responding officer in the face twice before being taken into custody. Multiple civilians intervened and assisted the police during this attack.
Officers determined the suspect assaulted three men inside of the store and claimed to be a federal agent demanding their names and cornering them against their will.
He then chased an 18-year-old woman and tried to grab her after she sought refuge. The store manager stepped out of the store and intervened in the suspect’s attempt to continue chasing her before police arrived.
According to the officer’s report, she was “so traumatized by the incident that she requested information on how to get a protection order.”
The 44-year-old suspect was arrested for four counts of Assault, Criminal Impersonation, and Unlawful Imprisonment. He was booked into King County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
The injured officer was evaluated by the Seattle Fire Department and went to the hospital for his injury. Detectives with the Homicide & Assault Unit were assigned to this case.
