#2024-287455/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0159 hours, A subject called 911 and threatened to kill the call takers. This subject has made the same threats recently. A little bit after the first call, he called again and stated that he was going to start shooting police and SFD. The subject told the call taker that he was currently outside of station 28. Officers were arriving on scene shortly after. As an officer was sitting at a red light approximately a block south of station 28, a two-officer car noticed the subject standing in the middle of the road behind the patrol vehicle. Officers contacted the subject, and he was taken into custody without incident. Intel and 233 were notified.
#2024-287473/North Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0059 hours, a caller advised someone was shooting at him in a local Aurora motel parking lot, so he shot back. The suspect and victim then both fled in their vehicles. The victim is believed to be a suspect in a sex assault case from the night before (unknown if related). A vehicle matching one of the suspect vehicles fled from officers in the area. Area checks were negative for the victim, and he would not answer his phone after the initial 911 call. A single shell casing was located. The motel clerk was uncooperative; expressing concern for his safety if he assisted the police. Officers continued to check the motel for the suspect’s return. The suspect’s vehicle was located, and patrol began surveillance. The suspect eventually entered his vehicle and was arrested by officers. They applied for a search warrant after the suspect mentioned his firearm in the vehicle. The warrant was granted and served on the vehicle; officers located the handgun believed to have been used in the shots incident the night prior. SAU was notified via email about the suspect’s arrest due to the on-going sexual assault case and the new VUFA charge.
#2024-287823/South Precinct/First Watch:
At 1057 hours, Officers responded to a fight disturbance at Franklin HS. School security called 911 stating that there was a fight involving approximately 20 people outside the front of the school. Updates later said the fights were at multiple locations around the school. One update stated that school security couldn’t talk because they were actively breaking up fights, but security emphasized that they needed the police. 1st and 2nd watch patrol with the support of traffic units and K9 units responded. Upon arrival school security pointed out two involved females who were detained without incident. Immediately following the detention of the two females, school personnel began reporting additional fights in other locations. The females were secured in the back of a patrol car. No one else was detained. All fights seemed to dissipate. No suspects or victims were located. School personnel then reported that the two females that were detained were not the instigators. All involved parties that could be were identified. The two detained were released. A report will be written. The school asked for increased patrols during lunch (1200-1300) and at the end of the day (1530). Second Watch officers were tasked with increased patrols around the school during the specified times.
#2024-287861/West Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1159 hours, Officers responded to the location reference a shooting. Upon arrival, multiple witnesses reported seeing an unknown male suspect with a black handgun, firing several rounds at an unknown victim. Both victim and suspect fled the scene and were not located. No signs of injury or property damage were observed. One .9mm shell casing was located. Scene processed by patrol and video surveillance was taken as evidence. 212, GVRU, and PIO notified.
#2024-287835/West Precinct/First Watch:
At 1113 hours, SPD Officers were dispatched to investigate an Assault in the West Precinct area. Upon arrival, the officers found probable cause to arrest the suspect for Robbery 1st Degree and Burglary 1st Degree after they interviewed the victim and reviewed security cameras. The officers learned the victim was waiting for an elevator when the suspect approached the victim with a meat cleaver. The suspect accused the victim of owing her money, searched the victim, then stole the victim’s money and key to the apartment. The suspect struck the victim with the meat cleaver before entering the victim’s apartment and burglarized it. The victim sustained injuries to her arm. The suspect was arrested and booked into KCJ. As of this SIR, the officers are applying for a warrant to enter the suspect’s apartment to collect evidence. Robbery and Media Units were notified of the incident.
#2024-287995/East Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1344 hours, officers responded to a report of shots fired, where one bullet went through a second-floor window at the Nova High School (2400 block E Cherry St). Officers located 14 FCCs in the 500 block of 25th Ave and recovered one projectile from the school classroom. According to witnesses, the occupant of a sedan, traveling NB on 25th Ave, fired several times at an unknown person walking near the Garfield HS playfields. It does not appear that the high school was intentionally targeted. There were no reported injuries, and the intended target was not located. GVRU Detectives responded and assisted with scene processing. GVRU will handle follow-up responsibilities.
#2024-288214/West Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1746 hours, Officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing in the 500 blk of S Jackson St. Off-duty officers were in the area and were able to provide immediate first aid and assist in an area search for the suspect, who was believed to have gone to a nearby park. A search of the suspect resulted in negative results. A passerby described that the stabbing was preceded by an argument between the victim and suspect over a wristwatch. The suspect was described as having stabbed the victim several times in the torso. Victim was transported from the scene to HMC via SPD Medic units where he was stabilized and underwent surgery. Homicide was notified the incident.
